  2. mark-goodson & bill-todman created match-game in 1962 before landing on nbc from 1962 to 1969 & cbs from 1973 to 1979.

  3. A theatre group, including myself, just played a round of this via FaceTime to pass some time during the coronavirus miasma. The coordinator was nice enough to let my gay ass play CNR! LOL. WHAT FUN WE ALL HAD!!!

  4. $19,000 in 1974, was nothing compared to what NBC was giving away at that time. NBC game shows at that time were giving away in some cases $50,000 or even $100,000 (example Jackpot and that famous $38,750 win and Bill Cullen's Winning Streak where there's a possibility that a contestant could win $819,200).

  5. Heaven would consist of being on the panel with all the departed panel members…with tobacco and drinks and funky clothes.

  6. In other words, $19,000 in 1970 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $122,964.69 in 2018, a difference of $103,964.69 over 48 years. The 1970 inflation rate was 5.72%. … The 2018 inflation rate is higher compared to the average inflation rate of 2.01% per year between 2018 and 2019.

  7. Wow someone didn't pick Richard for head-to-head! That makes her a great contestant right there, even if she didn't win anything.

  8. As soon as Charles finally showed his card, everyone was like, “You’re a son of a *** for making us all wait!” And then they started whacking him.

  9. Back then that was enough for a average home. I REMBER match game was on about 10 minitues after school bus drop off every day it was insanely popular and seemed each day boob was a answer to a question im sure it made many regulars very wealthy a great show and Dawson was a big draw for viewers giving him the Feud

  10. Charles Nelson Reilly would have made a lousy news broadcaster. He took too long.

  11. They looked like they had such a good time. To bad we are so uptight as a society now, seems like fun times like this on tv are a thing of the past

  12. This is probably my favorite Match Game moment from the '70s era. Charles was excellent with this.

  13. If you watch the actual show you will find out that Charles was off by $500!!! I believe. Somewhere on YT is that actual show.
